Doreen Decasa was born in Honolulu and raised surrounded by Hawaii’s tropical flowers, picturesque beaches and majestic mountain ranges. As a young girl, Doreen didn’t realize her yearning to capture the beauty of her surroundings was instilled by her father who passed away when she was 12 years old. Over a decade later, Doreen discovered her father’s 250-page hand-bound manual entitled “Your Photography Training”, published in 1931 by the American School of Photography.
Doreen has come a long way from her first camera, a plastic rendition of Mickey Mouse’s head that used 110 film. She currently resideson Oahu, nestled between Kaneohe Bay and the Ko`olau Mountain Range, blessed with morning showers and breathtaking sunrises.
Doreen is inspired by the minute details in nature and strives to capture that beauty through her photography.
